| Hello to our optogenetics users,
I am happy to announce our February 2013 edition of our Optogenetics hardware catalog that, compared to SfN 2012 edition, contains some major changes and new product introductions. The lapsed period was marked with surge in production volume and number of product developments. The most significant new additions to our product portfolio is Fiber-optic &Liquid rotary joints, separate light path 2x2 FRJ and M2 cannulas and connectors.
Fiber-optic & Liquid rotary joint
This patent pending product has significant improvement over its predecessors with significant size reduction, reduced variations of optical signals and ability to connect additional tubes (perfect match to five channel swivels from Instech) without significantly affecting the optical transmission.
Separate light path 2x2 FRJ
Another patent pending device that allows connecting of different optical fiber pairs over fully separated optical paths. They might be used in many different ways not previously being possible. We mention some of the applications in catalog, but I am sure that our customers will come up with many more.
Fiber-optic cannulas with M2 receptacles
After several customers pressed us for receptacles smaller than M3, we have developed M2 receptacles and corresponding fiber-optic patch cords and adapters. For those of you interested in doing beta testing of that product, we have set aside 50 units that will be provided free of charge (except for the shipping cost) to qualified customers with the limit of one unit per customer and on a first come first served basis. The unit comprises fiber-optic cannula, fiber optic patch cord with M2 connector on on one side and FC connector on the other side and M2 receptacle adapter for stereotaxic holder. The length of the fiber protrusion on the cannula, fiber patch cord length and choice of 2.5 or 1.25 mm attachment diameter of the receptacle adapter needs to be specified by the customers. These units are made of titanium. Later, we will provide PEEK plastic parts too.
