Recent problems with quality of 'all-around' type AR coatings for our gradient-index cylindrical lenses have been resolved. A new coating supplier of 'all-around' coatings has been selected and tested.

The quality of the new coatings is excellent. However, due to the ease of manufacturing and 'rump-up' possibilities, we still favor '2- sided' AR coating option. The '2-sided' AR coating has a small flat surface on the bottom of the rod lens to help orient the lens. The flat surface does not reduce the numerical aperture of the lens.
